CR JOHN FERGUSON - Mayor of Bulloo Shire Council

Background

Born in 1951 in Broken Hill, NSW, John grew up on various properties in the Channel Country west of Thargomindah.  He commenced work as a grader driver with the Bulloo Shire Council in 1983.

In 1997 John started his own Apiary business.  He has lived and worked in the region all his life.  John is married to Peggy and together they have two daughters, Lisa and Tamie.

John has experience with Local Government, serving 9 years as a Councillor on the Bulloo Shire Council.  In 2004 he was elected as Mayor for the region.

CR GLYN DARE - Deputy Mayor

 

Cr Glyn (Dogga) Dare

 

Background

Born in Cunnamulla and brought home to Thargomindah, Glyn (Dogga) is a lifetime resident with family ties to the Bulloo Shire going back to the early 1900’s.  His great grandparent were married at the Noccundra Hotel on 10 October 1910.  His mother Janice Dare was born at the Thargomindah Hospital in 1940.

Together with his wife Robyn, he has raised his own family of four in Thargomindah, two of whom still reside and work in the shire.

After completing his high school education in Cunnamulla, Glyn worked with his father Charlie Dare, a well known Windmill Expert, for a short time then worked at Bulloo Downs for 12 months.

In 1976 Dogga started work in the shearing industry with Dynevor Downs being his first shed.  He continued to work for a local contractor until 1984 when he formed the Thargo Shearing Company Partnership.  From early 2000 to 2005 he and his wife Robyn managed the Oasis Motel.

For the past 15 years Dogga has been involved in hospitality within the Shire, as an employee, venue manager and catering contractor which developed his interest in the tourism industry.

In May 2019 Dogga and Robyn commenced the Management of the Explorers Caravan Park in Thargomindah.

CR STEWART MORTON

Cr Stewart (Pod) Morton

 

 

Background

Stewart was born in Toowoomba in 1979, he grew up on Karmona Station (now part on Durham Downs) and at age 14 his family moved to Innamincka Station.

Stewart went to Downlands College in Toowoomba for his secondary education and finished in 1996.

He worked in Toowoomba for 6 years, while he was there he played Rugby Union.

At the end of 2002 Stewart moved back out to the Bulloo Shire to work on Innamincka Station for 6 years, Nappa Merrie Station for 3 years, Woomanooka (Outstation of Durham) for 7 years and is now the Manager at Naryilco Station.

CR MAURICE PARKER

Background

Maurice (Moc) Parker was born in Hillston, NSW, in 1958 and grew up on the family cropping and grazing property, "Long Plain."

He attended primary school in Hillston, followed by secondary schooling as a boarder at Yanco Agricultural High School from 1971 to 1974. After attending Longreach Pastoral College from 1975 to 1976, Moc returned home to work with the family partnership.

In 1981, Moc married Sheree, a local Hillston girl. The couple have three sons Michael, Reginald and Roby. From 1984 to 1990, Moc and Sheree, along with their young family, lived on "Currawinya" station in Hungerford, Queensland. In 1990, they purchased "Mooro" station in Wyandra, Queensland, which they sold in 1998. They then moved to "Bootra" station at White Cliffs until 2002.

Moc transitioned from the rural industry to hospitality, leasing the Royal Mail Hotel in Hungerford for three years and the Outback Inn Hotel in Wanaaring for six years. Based in Hungerford, Moc worked on the Wild Dog Fence along the NSW-Queensland border for six years and served as a Ranger at Currawinya National Park for seven years.

In March 2024, Moc was elected as a Councillor for the Bulloo Shire Council. He and Sheree have been residents of the Bulloo Shire for a total of 23 years, with 17 years spent in Hungerford.
