Walking Tracks

Back

A range of walking tracks provide a great way to explore the beauty of the surrounding environment and get active and healthy.

Remember to always keep to designated tracks, use sun protection, carry water, take your rubbish home with you and please do not feed the wildlife.

Enjoy our environment, but tread lightly.

The Thargomindah Heritage Walk

The Heritage Walk will take you past some of the heritage sights in town.

These include Leahy House which houses the Thargomindah Historical Museum, the old Town Hall and Shire Office, the Cobb & Co Crossing and the old Thargomindah Hospital.

The Thargomindah River Walk

The River walk begins at the old Cobb & Co Crossing, before taking you on a scenic walk along the Bulloo River to the Pelican Point Picnic Area where you can have a quiet BBQ on the banks of the Bulloo before continuing on the walk which ends at the Explorers Caravan Park.

Along the way, seating has been set up so that you may enjoy the scenery and maybe spot some of the local wildlife. Vegetation species along the River Walk are marked by numbered pegs.

The Thargomindah Hydro Walk

The Hydro walk begins in town, before veering off to the left where it proceeds to follow a route parallel to the road leading out of town; past the new Town Bore, crossing the road leading into the Aerodrome and finishing at the Hydro Power Plant Display.

Many trees, shrubs and plants along the walk have identification plaques.
