Maurice (Moc) Parker was born in Hillston, NSW, in 1958 and grew up on the family cropping and grazing property, "Long Plain."
He attended primary school in Hillston, followed by secondary schooling as a boarder at Yanco Agricultural High School from 1971 to 1974. After attending Longreach Pastoral College from 1975 to 1976, Moc returned home to work with the family partnership.
In 1981, Moc married Sheree, a local Hillston girl. The couple have three sons Michael, Reginald and Roby. From 1984 to 1990, Moc and Sheree, along with their young family, lived on "Currawinya" station in Hungerford, Queensland. In 1990, they purchased "Mooro" station in Wyandra, Queensland, which they sold in 1998. They then moved to "Bootra" station at White Cliffs until 2002.
Moc transitioned from the rural industry to hospitality, leasing the Royal Mail Hotel in Hungerford for three years and the Outback Inn Hotel in Wanaaring for six years. Based in Hungerford, Moc worked on the Wild Dog Fence along the NSW-Queensland border for six years and served as a Ranger at Currawinya National Park for seven years.
In March 2024, Moc was elected as a Councillor for the Bulloo Shire Council. He and Sheree have been residents of the Bulloo Shire for a total of 23 years, with 17 years spent in Hungerford.
