2026-2027 Council Budget

Bulloo Shire Council has adopted its 2026/2027 Budget, delivering a significant investment in infrastructure, community recovery, and economic development across the region.
The Budget maintains Council's strong financial position while delivering a capital works program valued at $32.7 million, supporting essential infrastructure upgrades, housing development, community facilities, and road improvements.
Key components of the Capital Works Program include:
- $11.04 million for Water and Sewerage Infrastructure
- $10.38 million for Buildings and Other Structures
- $9.845 million for Road Infrastructure
- $767,000 for Plant Replacement
- $673,000 for Land and Other Capital Projects
Major projects to be delivered during the 2026/2027 financial year include:
- $2.49 million for the construction of five new Council houses to support workforce attraction and community growth.
- $1.43 million for the development of four new single cabins and one multi-room brick cabin at the Explorers Caravan Park to enhance visitor accommodation.
- $8.51 million to complete the sealing of 14 kilometres of Warri Gate Road through funding support from the CRC and Roads to Recovery programs.
- $1 million for kerb and channel investment within Thargomindah.
- $2.6 million to complete the sealing and fencing of the Noccundra Airstrip.
- $10.7 million to complete Residential Activation funding projects, including the Sams Street and Frew Street development, truck infrastructure upgrades, and the replacement of the Sewerage Treatment Plant.
Council will also invest $2.15 million through Sports Recreation Recovery Grants to restore and improve community and sporting facilities, including the Rodeo Grounds, Sports Oval, Golf Club, Community Centre, and Thargomindah Memorial Park.
The Budget includes an operating expenditure of $87.51 million, of which $64.7 million relates to QRA DRFA restoration works, reflecting Council's ongoing commitment to disaster recovery and the rebuilding of critical infrastructure across the region.
Mayor John Ferguson said the Budget balances responsible financial management with continued investment in the infrastructure and facilities needed to support the future of Bulloo Shire.
