CR JOHN FERGUSON - Mayor of Bulloo Shire Council

Background

Born in 1951 in Broken Hill, NSW, John grew up on various properties in the Channel Country west of Thargomindah.  He commenced work as a grader driver with the Bulloo Shire Council in 1983.

In 1997 John started his own Apiary business.  He has lived and worked in the region all his life.  John is married to Peggy and together they have two daughters, Lisa and Tamie.

John has experience with Local Government, serving 9 years as a Councillor on the Bulloo Shire Council.  In 2004 he was elected as Mayor for the region.

CR JON COBB - Deputy Mayor of Bulloo Shire Council

 

Background

Born in 1965, John grew up in Adelaide.  He commenced working at Innamincka Station in 1986.  John moved to Durham Downs Station as Manager in 2008.  John and his partner, Michelle, have 4 boys, Keegan, George, Joel and William.

John has a background in local government, having served as a councillor for 8 years on the Diamantina Shire Council prior to becoming a councillor with the Bulloo Shire Council in 2008.

CR SHIRLEY GIRDLER 

Background

Born in Quilpie in 1962, Shirley went to Thargomindah State Primary School and then on to Cunnamulla State High School to complete year 10.

On leaving high school Shirley moved back to Thargomindah and worked as a telephonist for 6 years, during that time Shirley met her husband Don (Duck) Girdler. 

Shirley and Don have three sons, DJ (David Jay), Aaron and Dale.

Shirley worked at Baxys Store and the Thargomindah State School before moving into the Bulloo River Hotel Motel in 2003 as the Manager for a 12 month period.  Shirley went on to lease the Hotel for 3 years before deciding to buy the Hotel Motel in 2007.

Shirley is appreciative of the opportunity to serve as a Councillor on the Bulloo Shire Council.

CR DONNA HUMPHRIS

Background

Born in Cunnamulla and raised in Thargomindah, Donna attended Thargomindah Primary School and then Cunnamulla High School. After finishing high school Donna worked at Thargo Motors in Thargomindah before moving to Brisbane in 1977, where she began her 9 year career in retail at Woolworths.

Donna moved back to Thargomindah in 1986 and met Phil Humphris, they married in 1990. Donna and Phil worked together in the shearing industry from 1986 until 1993 when Donna started work at Baxys Store in Thargomindah before purchasing their own business. 

Donna & Phil have owned and operated successful local businesses being, Thargomindah General Store and Oasis Motel, for the past 20 years supporting the local economy and providing employment for 4 full time and 6 casual staff.  

Donna and Phil have four adult children, Brett, Jason, Lachlan and Kate.

CR ALISON PETTY

Background

Born in Boonah in 1972, Alison grew up in Rosevale and attended Rosevale Primary School and Rosevale State School. 

In 1989 Alison completed a certificate in Governess Practices and went on to work as a governess in the Bourke and Eulo districts.

Alison and her husband Andy moved to Pinidary Station in 1996 and then to Norley 2000 as Station Managers.

In 2009 Alison and Andy moved into Thargomindah where Andy works on the Shire Council and Alison was employed at the Thargomindah Hospital, Post Office and Thargo Motors.

Alison and Andy have two daughters, Courtney and Kasey.
